Grenoble, the Capital of the Alps, is a must-visit destination during a holiday in south-eastern France. Surrounded by mountains, the city is served by a number of stations and also an international airport. Outdoor activity enthusiasts and those who want to escape into the mountains will love the appeal of getting lost in the Vercours massif or the mountains of the Belledonne. A visit to the Bastille is advised so that you can soak up the history of the city and enjoy a beautiful aerial view, before returning to the city-centre by cable-car.
During a stay in Grenoble, you can visit the Dauphinois Museum, the Musée de l’Ancien Évêché and the Grenoble Museum of Fine Arts. Ideally, when you leave your hotel or guesthouse, you should travel on foot in the heart of the city, in order to walk the pedestrian streets leading to the Place Sainte Catherine and the City Gardens. Grenoble is a city of water, full of ancient water fountains, which give a rustic feel to the city. You could also relax in the eco-district of Bonne, at the foot of the Notre Dame Cathedral or in Parc Paul Mistral, before discovering the famous Grenoble nightlife, in the bars and clubs of the city.
